HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2012-072 Edina Quasquicentennial • RESOLUTION NO. 2012-72 CITY OF EDINA, MINNESOTA A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE CITY'S QUASQUICENTENNIAL AND THE WORK OF THE EDINA HISTORICAL SOCIETY AND ITS QUASQUICENTENNIAL COMMITTEE WHEREAS, the Village of Edina was founded on December 12, 1888; and WHEREAS, Edina has grown and prospered since its founding; and WHEREAS, the City of Edina has become renowned for its vibrant neighborhoods, beautiful parks, excellent public schools, thriving businesses and civic-minded citizens; and WHEREAS, the City of Edina will celebrate its Quasquicentennial, the125th Anniversary of its founding, on December 12, 2013; and WHEREAS, the Edina Historical Society has organized a committee to plan city-wide activities commemorating and celebrating Edina's Quasquicentennial; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Edina City Council hereby proclaims December 12, 2013 "Founder's Day." BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Edina City Council hereby recognizes and states its appreciation for the work of the Edina Historical Society and the Quasquicentennial Committee; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Edina City Council hereby encourages the citizens of Edina to join in the commemoration and celebration of 125 years of city history throughout the year.
